This order amends the 1995 Order of the same name by clarifying that awards calculated by the Tribunal on which interest is calculated does not include an award in respect of costs, allowances of preparation time. No 317 The Work and Families (Increase of Maximum Amount) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009
This Order comes into effect on 1/10/09 and has the main purpose of increasing the maximum weekly amount used for the purposes of calculating certain awards by the Industrial Tribunal from £350 to £380. This is commonly referred to as the “capped weeks pay” for the purposes of unfair dismissal and redundancy pay calculations.

These Regulations come into operation on 15/3/15 and they apply to and modify existing powers in the 1996 Employment Rights (NI) Order to allow the making of regulations to give an employee who meets the eligibility criteria entitlement to statutory adoption leave, paternity leave and shared parental leave if that employee has a child born with the help of a surrogate and the employee is a parental order parent.
