Retirement

Older workers can choose when they retire and can take any occupational pension they’re entitled to. Usually the employer cannot force an employee to retire.

There is no set age that people have to retire in the UK.  That was phased out from April 2011 and has now been abolished.  Employers can no longer force employees to retire.  If they are going to dismiss someone they need another, justifiable reason.

Employers are not allowed to decide what retirement age should be.   Older workers can choose when they retire and can take any occupational pension they are entitled to.
