Leaflet 4. Induction Programme

Once the employee starts working for you, you have a duty of care towards them. This includes making sure they can do the job both safely and competently. The best way to ensure this is through a structured induction programme.
Employee representatives
Employees who act as representatives for consultation about redundancies or business transfers, or are candidates to be representatives of this kind, are entitled to reasonable time off with pay during working hours to perform these functions and to receive appropriate training.

A spokesperson for the Labour Relations Agency said: “When it comes to redundancy there are certain rights and responsibilities involved, such as the need to establish appropriate criteria, undertake a fair consultation and procedure. Redundancy payments also need to be considered.Do you need assistance to complete the Early Conciliation form?
If you are unable to complete the Early Conciliation notification form online you can:
- contact the Labour Relations Agency on 03300 552 224 and a staff member will take the details over the phone;
- download and complete the form by hand and post it to one of the Labour Relations Agency's offices at:

- call in to one of our offices where we can provide a private space for you to complete the online form.

Shared Parental Leave and Pay: Employers' Technical Guide to Shared Parental Leave and Pay
This guide was published by the Department for the Economy.
Eligible employees of babies due to be born or placed for adoption from April 2015 will have a new statutory entitlement to shared parental leave and pay. This technical guidance is for employers who think their employee(s) may be eligible.
