Shared Parental Leave: A Good Practice Guide for Employers and Employees

The Work and Families (Northern Ireland) Act 2015 and associated regulations provide an opportunity for parents to take advantage of additional flexibility in the way they choose to care for a new arrival to the family. 

This guidance is written to help eligible parents decide whether the benefits of Shared Parental Leave will work for them and how it could be used alongside, or instead of, traditional Maternity or Adoption leave. It is also written to provide employers with an understanding of their legal obligations and good practice procedures to use in their workplace.
