Service Standards
The Agency's service standards are set out in our Customer Charter. Any complaint about the delivery of an Agency service can be brought to a Director of the Agency.
We will fully investigate the complaint and respond within ten working days. If the person complaining is not satisfied with the response he/she can raise it with the Chief Executive who will reply within ten working days.
If the individual is still not satisfied he/she can refer the matter to the Ombudsman. A copy of the Agency’s Customer Complaints Procedure, which includes guidance on raising a complaint is available from the Agency or can be downloaded here.

547 Employment Rights (Health Service Employers) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996
This Order relates to the issue of continuity of employment in the context of undergoing professional training and being employed successively by a number of different health service employers.
Types of problems
Problems can arise in any workplace. Below are some examples, though not an exhaustive list. Our service is confidential and all our resources are free of charge to anyone working to prevent or resolve a workplace issue in Northern Ireland.
Early Conciliation
The Labour Relations Agency provides an Early Conciliation service following a change in NI employment law which took effect on 27 January 2020. This service helps to resolve workplace disputes in a legally binding way, without the need to take a case to the Industrial or Fair Employment Tribunal. No 494 The Transfer of Undertakings and Service Provision Change (Protection of Employment) (Consequential Amendments etc) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007
These Regulations, as of 30/12/07, make amendments to the 2006 TUPE Regulations and the 2006 Service Provision Change Regulations (NI only) purely in terms of references to the above Regulations which exist in other Orders in Council and Regulations, for example, the ICE (NI) Regulations 2005 and the Pensions (NI) Order 2005.
4 Race Relations (Prescribed Public Bodies) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998
These Regulations prescribe certain public bodies under and for the purposes of Article 71 (5) of the Race Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 relating to employment rules relevant to service of the Crown or certain public bodies.
No 102 The Social Security (Maternity Allowance) (Participating Wife or Civil Partner of Self-employed Earner) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014
These Regulations come into operation from 1/4/14 and effectively implement Article 8 of the European Directive 2010/41/EU. It provides an entitlement to maternity allowance of 14 weeks for women who participate in their spouse’s or civil partner’s self employed business, but for which they receive no income.
Annual holidays
Most workers - whether part-time or full-time - are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave. Employers can set the times of the year that leave needs to be taken and workers must give the employer notice when they want to take leave.
