10X REASONS (AND MORE) FOR GOOD EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS – A CONFERENCE
On Thursday 23 February 2023, we hosted our “10X Reasons and More for Good Employment Relations in NI” conference at Titanic Belfast.
This major stakeholder conference brought together employers, HR professionals, trade unionists and others to explore how we create a framework of best practice that will help turn the vision for a 10X economy into a reality through good employment relations.
Included on this page are some of the highlights of the event
321 Race Relations (Formal Investigations) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997
These Regulations are relevant to notices given in relation to formal investigations under the Race Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 and to non-discrimination notices issued in consequence of such investigations.
192 (C.9) Employment Rights (Time off for Study and Training) (1998 Order)(Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000
This Order brings into operation on 1/9/00 the provisions of the Employment Rights (Time off for study or training) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.
Resignation and termination of employment
A contract of employment may be ended with the agreement of both parties, or by the employer or employee giving the required amount of notice.
No. 24 Employment Rights (Increase of limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002
This Order increases the limits (as of 10/3/02) applying to certain awards of Industrial Tribunals and other awards. Examples include: "capped" weeks pay £250, guaranteed payment £17.00, Unfair dismissal limit £52,600.
6 Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000
This Order increases, as from 5/3/00, the limits applying to certain awards of industrial tribunals, and other amounts payable under employment legislation, as specified in the Schedule to the Order. (Increases reflect increases in Retail Price Index from Sept’97-Sept’99).
Contracts of employment
A contract of employment is a legal agreement between an employer and an employee which sets out their employment rights, responsibilities and duties. The employment contract is made as soon as a job offer is accepted.
Right to work in Northern Ireland
It is important that an employer checks that a job applicant is allowed to work in the UK before they can employ them. An employer could face a civil penalty if they employ an illegal worker and have not carried out a correct right to work check.
Employers must check the applicant's identity and nationality and make sure that they have the relevant immigration permission or visa in place.
