On Thursday 23 February 2023, we hosted our “10X Reasons and More for Good Employment Relations in NI” conference at Titanic Belfast.
This major stakeholder conference brought together employers, HR professionals, trade unionists and others to explore how we create a framework of best practice that will help turn the vision for a 10X economy into a reality through good employment relations.

Early Conciliation
The Labour Relations Agency provides an Early Conciliation service following a change in NI employment law which took effect on 27 January 2020. This service helps to resolve workplace disputes in a legally binding way, without the need to take a case to the Industrial or Fair Employment Tribunal. 104 Race Relations (Complaints to Industrial Tribunals) (Armed Forces) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998
These Regulations (effective as of 17 April 1998) detail when an individual can bring a complaint to an Industrial Tribunal in respect of service with the armed forces.

Independent appeals
The Agency also facilitates a range of independent appeals (mainly grievance, bullying / harassment and discipline), for example where the final stage of an organisation’s procedure offers the option of 'an independent appeal of the decision via the Labour Relations Agency'.

598 Unfair Arbitration Agreements (Specified Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996
This Order specified the amount of £3,000 for the purposes of S.91 of the Arbitration Act 1996 and this provides for the application of unfair contract terms legislation to be applicable in relation to sums exceeding this amount.
No 105 The Flexible Working Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015
These Regulations deal with eligibility, applications, breaches of procedure and compensation in relation to statutory applications for contract variation to allow flexible working under the Employment Rights (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 - (See Article 112f)
