Webinar - Flexible Working
This webinar aims to help employers understand their duties and responsibilities and to promote good employment practice. It includes an overview of the statutory flexible working process from employee request, the right of accompaniment, the right of appeal through to communication of the final decision.
Deductions from pay - employees
If the amount you have been paid differs from what is expected, speak with your employer first to check what has happened. Your employer can then either correct the mistake or explain why there is a change in your pay.
Pay Day
Employers should indicate to their employees when and how they will receive their pay.
Domestic Violence and Abuse Podcast
This is the second podcast in our Challenging Workplaces series. Our Employment Relations Manager, Helen Smyth, and Clare Moore of NIC ICTU join host Glenn Baker to talk about Domestic Violence and Abuse, the importance of seeing it as a workplace issue, and how employers can best support any employees who are experiencing it.
Misconduct and gross misconduct
Disciplinary issues arise when the employer has concerns about an employee’s conduct, absence from work or the way they are performing in their job. They may start a disciplinary procedure which could lead to disciplinary action (including dismissal in more serious cases).
Rests and breaks
Employees are entitled to breaks for meals and to rest. As far as possible employers should provide breaks, facilities and comfortable surroundings for additional needs such as breastfeeding or expressing milk.
