No 1088 The Transnational Information and Consultation of Employees (Amendment) Regulations 2010

These Regulations were laid before Parliament on 6/4/10 and come into operation on 5/6/11 and essentially they amend the 1999 Regulations which made provision for the establishment of European Works Councils for organisations that met the requisite criteria in terms of size and presence for Community-scale undertakings. These Regulations make amendments in relation to things such as agency worker related provisions, determinative information, SNB constitutional matters, the mechanics of informing and consulting, entitlement to training, complaints to the Industrial Court, linkage to National information and consultation forum, the penalty regime and role of the High Court (Northern Ireland) and so on.

The Agency’s Enquiry Point is available to employers, employees, trade unions and others. Enquiry Point advisors provide information and advice on a wide range of employment matters. The Enquiry Point is also an important contact point for identifying circumstances, or clients, who would benefit from being referred to other Agency services.

The Enquiry Point provides clear, confidential, independent and impartial advice to assist the caller in resolving issues in the workplace.

While the advisors cannot provide a legal opinion they can help callers gain a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities as well as identifying possible options to help resolve their issues.
