432 Collective Redundancies and Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999

These Regulations are derived from a European Directive and amend provisions relating to information and consultation on redundancies.

The Regulations provide that representatives of employees who may be affected by the dismissals or by the measures taken in connection with the dismissals must be consulted. The Regulations go on to detail: consultation with recognised trade unions and if there are no recognised trade unions then employers must consult either other employee representatives or specially elected representatives, maximum 90 day pay compensation for failure to consult, time off for representatives, right not to suffer detriment or dismissal for employee representatives and those who participate in the election of representatives.
