2016 LRA Public Meeting

2016 LRA Public Meeting

The Agency held its annual Public Meeeting on Thursday 20th October 2016 at the MAC in Belfast, which consisted of a "Public Board Meeting" and the yearly lecture on Employment Relations. Marie Malon, Chair of the Agency spoke of last 12 months, highlighting the fact that the Labour Relations Agency had just celebrated its 40th birthday during October. Marie paid tribute to all those, both past and present, who have been involved in creating and developing the service over the last 40 years, and in particular Brendan Harkin the Agency's first full time Chair and Chief Executive.

Following the end of formal business, Marie Malon handed the floor over to Aiden Harkin, son of the first Chief Executive and Chair, who entertained the audience with memories of his late father and his lifelong commitment to good industrial relations within the workplace.

The event ended with a very informative lecture delivered by Anne Sharp, Chief Executive of ACAS (Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service in Great Britain) who spoke about their experiences following the introduction of a new Early Conciliation Service. The Agency recorded Anne's talk and this can be viewed within the websites media section by clicking here...

The Agency also produced an accompanying pamphlet celebrating the years 1976 - 2016 which can be viewed by clicking here or downloaded via the link below.
