Reviewing Employment Documentation

The Agency, may, on request, assist in reviewing employment documentation such as dismissal, disciplinary and grievance procedures, statement of main terms and conditions of employment, company handbooks to ensure that they comply with statutory requirements and promote good practice. This service involves an Agency officer commenting on submitted documents and providing suggestions for improvement. There is no charge for this service.

The Labour Relations Agency can assist employers by verifying whether a statement of written particulars for an employee meets the requirements of the Employment Rights (NI) Order 1996. However, for contracts for services for independent contractors or zero hours contracts specialist legal advice should be taken as these matters can often become contentious once they have been in operation for some time and the practice may no longer reflect what is on paper leading to potential disputes and allegations that the contractual arrangements are a sham.

Requests for such assistance should be made to Gerard Crozier gerard.crozier@lra.org.uk

Occasionally, the Agency may assist in the drafting of new employment documentation.

You can email, fax, or post your documents to the Agency.
