Who can use this service?

Good employment practice assistance is available to employers, employees, trade union representatives and employer federations.

The basic requirements for those wishing to use our good employment practice service are that both parties, for example employer and trade union, agree to allow the Agency to facilitate the project. In addition, the parties must abide by the principles of joint working and other ground rules as set out by the Agency.

We have found that clients who have successfully used the service in the past have been proactive, solution focused, strive towards mutual interest and benefits and are in need of some independent, impartial, confidential and experience in providing  advice and facilitation.

There can be a variety of factors which can impact upon the decision to ask us for assistance, including:

  • Previous experience of working with us
  • Recommendation of other users of our services
  • Involvement as part of a post-dispute settlement
  • Recognition of the Agency as an “honest broker”
  • Reputation of the Agency as an effective trouble-shooting service

We are flexible about how the Good Employment Practice service is delivered provided that our ground rules are adhered to and that all parties follow mutually agreed terms of reference.
